Ford Foundation Request for Proposals (Closed April 24th)
Building capacity in gender and sexuality education: developing training material
and running trainings of trainers
Purpose: This request for proposals – “Building capacity in gender and sexuality
education: developing training material and running trainings of trainers” – aims to
support educators to take on the realities of young people in China today. Falling
under the Ford Foundation China ‘Sexuality and Reproductive Health Education’
program, the overall goal is to strengthen the capacity of educators to improve
gender and health outcomes for young people in China.
Currently, young people learn about sexuality and reproductive health through a
range of channels such as: the internet, media, fiction, peers, parents, schools,
colleges and universities. Content varies. Some messages are more empowering, some
more about control. Some challenge gender and sexuality stereotypes, others
reinforce these. Some educational initiatives use participatory approaches; others
are more top-down. With this request for proposals, the Ford China office Sexuality
and Reproductive Health Education (SRHE) aims to support more empowering,
participatory and gender aware SRHE which responds to young people’s realities and
ultimately improves their well-being.
