Source reading with Dorothy Ko at Warwick University

Professor Dorothy Ko (Columbia University) will be Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Warwick from 24 to 28 May 2010. On Wednesday 26 May, she will lead a Chinese-language source-reading session for postgraduate and early-career postdoctoral researchers. The texts will date from the Ming and Qing periods and will relate to technology, material culture and consumption. The relevant texts will be distributed beforehand, and Professor Ko will introduce them in the context of her recent work. The session will be followed at 5pm by a public lecture (title to be confirmed).

We are pleased to be able to provide a small number of bursaries to help cover participants' travel costs within the UK. In order to be considered, please submit a short CV and letter of application, including your current dissertation or research topic and a budget of projected travel costs to/from the University of Warwick. Applications should reach Amy Evans (amy.evans@warwick.ac.uk) no later than 30 April 2010.
