Hong Kong is a global city, a major node for trade, investment, and the exchange of ideas. The Postgraduate Student Forum seeks to encourage the communication among young anthropologists in and of the East and Southeast Asian region, to help improve their research and to make the excellent research being conducted in Asia to be better known internationally. This year’s Postgraduate Student Forum is also one of the activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Department’s founding.
We encourage proposals for panel as well as individual papers. Papers will then be organized into panels. Each paper presentation will last 20 minutes; PowerPoint and multimedia equipment will be provided.
Language of the forum will be English, Putonghua and Cantonese, though English is encouraged.
Registration will cost HK$200 or US$26. A welcome dinner and lunches will be provided, and low-cost campus housing will be made available to registered participants from outside Hong Kong.
Funds are available to cover transportation costs and housing for up to 12 participants from Mainland China. Students who wish to apply for these funds should send a cover letter stating the required travel costs along with the abstract or panel application. Funds will be allocated by the Conference Committee based on the quality of the paper abstract and on the principle of bringing students from different institutions and regions.
